As batteries become increasingly central to electric mobility and renewable energy systems, ensuring their safety, reliability and long-term performance is more important than ever. Yet most Battery Management Systems (BMS) still rely on indirect indicators such as voltage and current to estimate battery condition, making it difficult to fully understand what happens inside battery cells, accurately predict ageing and performance degradation, and identify potential safety risks before they occur.

After three and a half years of research and development, the NEMO project concludes its journey by presenting a new generation of battery management solutions designed to provide deeper insight into battery behaviour. By combining advanced sensing technologies, innovative electronics and cutting-edge modelling approaches, NEMO has developed and validated solutions capable of delivering more accurate battery diagnostics, enhanced safety monitoring and improved lifetime prediction for both electric mobility and stationary energy storage applications.

The event will bring together experts to showcase the results achieved throughout the journey towards smarter and more reliable battery management, from advanced impedance-sensing research, battery modelling and prototype development to ageing studies, safety validation, data management and full-system monitoring. Participants will discover how these innovations contribute to a better understanding of battery behaviour and support the development of smarter, safer and longer-lasting battery systems.

Speakers will present their contributions to a new generation of battery management solutions, impact and market analysis, followed by an open panel discussion bringing together experts to exchange lessons learned and perspectives on advanced diagnostics, safety, battery modelling and the future direction of battery management technologies.

The event will conclude with a look ahead at the future of battery management systems and the challenges and opportunities ahead.
